# Saw Palmetto for Hair Loss: What the Studies Show, and Who It Is Actually For

The DHT mechanism, the 2002 pilot (PMID 12006122), the two-year open-label comparison where 38% improved on saw palmetto against 68% on finasteride (PMID 23298508), and the 2020 systematic review (PMID 33313047). Oral trials used 320 mg of a standardised lipid extract. States plainly that both of our formulas add DHEA, which can work against the goal in women with androgen-driven thinning.

**One-line answer:** A modest, real effect on pattern loss, roughly half the size of finasteride's; judge it on photographs at six months, not on feel.
